Fiesta
NaPoWriMo #16 – off prompt
the splayed
cartoon hands
of prickly pears
slapping at the sidewalk
underneath the fence
pattycake the concrete
shake loose the seeds
from tired sunflowers
sombrero-shade the
anthills
on mirage afternoons
when night falls
the hands rise up
clap together at the moon
and bloom delicate
flower fingers
so the bats can
sip perfume
Ah mirage afternoons...know them so well.
ReplyDeleteLovely poem.
